Welcome to LEMIE laboratory
The Laboratory of Environmental Management and Industrial Ecology is one of the laboratories of the Department of Production and Management Engineering of the Engineering School of Democritus University of Thrace. It consists of young scientists and researchers under the guidance of associate Professor Dr. George Gaidajis.
The main objective of the laboratory’s research activities is the environmental sustainability growth of industrial systems through the development and adoption of sustainable practices and strategies. The specific laboratory aims to realistic and applicable solutions based on holistic and innovative approaches and tools. It also provides high quality education to undergraduate and graduate students of the Polytechnic School.
The ultimate goal is the cooperation network development, which will be able to promote and effectively implement the principles of sustainable development in Greece. The collaboration with experienced research teams and universities is aimed. Industries and Municipalities that are interested in evaluating sustainability, identifying opportunities for environmental performance improvement, and quantifying complex indicators like carbon footprint, are the possible collaborators of the specific laboratory.
